Performance
Continuous insulation — a traditional wall loses part of its R-value at studs, bearing points, and joints; its real performance typically drops to around R15. Thermobloc removes that loss: the insulation is continuous, with no structural interruption, giving a measured effective R-value of 26.3.
Comfort
The mass of concrete poured on both sides of the insulation blocks sound transmission far better than a light-frame wall (STC 64) — a quieter interior. Combined with continuous insulation, the wall's thermal stability is felt day to day, not just on a bill.
Durability
Reinforced concrete resists fire well beyond standard code requirements (4 hours), and the concrete structure on both sides of the insulation brings the strength and longevity associated with concrete rather than a wood frame alone.
Architecture
Thermobloc isn't just trying to replace a construction method — it's trying to improve the building as a whole, appearance included. The system allows for distinctive architecture while building in envelope performance: the exterior concrete finish can take on several surface treatments, textures, and architectural lines depending on the project.
